50/50 KAD Maize is a high energy, starchy concentrate feed suitable for feeding all ruminant livestock. It is a 50/50 blend of Alka Maize and Kibbled Maize.

Alka Maize has a buffered pH of 8.5 -9.5. This assists in maintaining a healthy rumen pH in the presence of low pH feeds like silages and fresh grass. It also greatly reduces the risk of acidosis which is normally a risk with grain feeding. This improves feed efficiency in the animal, increases appetite and improves long term health. It also allows higher rates of grain to be feed in the diet. Alka Maize has 4.5 – 6.0% increased protein over traditional grains. It is also unattractive to birds and vermin.

How is it made?

Alka Maize is made by mixing Home’N’Dry pellets with the grain. Home’N’Dry pellets release ammonia that preserves the grain. It keeps the grain stable at high moisture contents. The preservation process is also effective in treating moulds and mico – toxins.
